Professional Standards

All treatments are carried out by Registered Nurses who are also qualified in colon hydrotherapy and nutritional therapy. The clinic has been established since 2003, and our nurses have years of experience in treating people with many conditions using colon hydrotherapy, naturopathy and nutrition. The clinic ensures the highest of professional and hygiene standards.


What is Colon Hydrotherapy

It is an internal bath of purified water that helps cleanse the large intestine. It facilitates the removal of stagnant faecal matter and subsequent proliferation of bacteria and their toxins, along with gas, mucus and cellular debris. This allows the colon to perform its natural functions of absorption and assimilation optimally.

This treatment dates back to biblical times and has been used in traditional medicine ever since. It has become more important in our lives today, as many problems are caused by poor diet, eating quickly and the stresses of today's “fast moving” lifestyle.


The Treatment

No fasting or special measures are necessary prior to a first treatment.

Following a detailed medical consultation which includes a nutritional and lifestyle assessment, the individual's health concerns and objectives are discussed. Then the treatment begins.

A small disposable speculum is inserted into the rectum. This is connected to a water inlet and a waste outlet. Ultra-pure filtered water at a carefully regulated temperature is introduced under gentle gravitational pressure. As the water flows into the colon, gentle massage techniques facilitate the removal of impacted waste matter. The nurse gradually works around the colon until the caecum is reached. Herbal infusions, probiotics, wheatgrass are instilled where appropriate to further cleanse and nourish the bowel. The evacuation tube is viewed by the nurse, which enables the identification of certain disorders of a compromised digestive system, such as dysbiosis and fermentation.

It takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes for the first treatment and consultation, and 1 hour for subsequent treatments.

All equipment is single use and disposable.

Frequency of Treatment

The number of treatments required depends on the individual case; this may vary from only one treatment to a number spread out over a period of time, after which preventative or maintenance treatments are used on occasion to achieve optimum colon health.


Treatment Includes

  1. Comprehensive medical assessment.

  2. Nutritional analysis and dietary advice.

  3. Herbal infusions, probiotic and wheatgrass implants where appropriate.

  4. Herbal medicines may be prescribed to take between treatments to optimize cleansing.

What is A Normal Bowel Movement

You should have a bowel movement for every meal that you digest.

Typically 2-3 movements daily.

It should be soft and unformed, not hard or watery and it should break up when the toilet is flushed.

It should float.

Bowel movements should happen effortlessly, and without straining and should take only a minute or so to pass.

Marks on the toilet bowl indicate that you are constipated and have excess mucus in your system.


Transit Time

This is the length it takes for ingested food to leave the body.

Normally, you should eliminate four-fifths of your food intake over an eleven to a nineteen hour period of time.

Every eight hours there is a peristaltic urge triggered by the gallbladder. If a bowel movement is achieved on waking at 7:00 a.m., then the next one should be at approximately at 3:00 p.m.



Tips For Healthy Colon


Eliminate When Needed

Don't resist the call of nature.

Try to establish a routine bowel movement first thing in the morning. The bowels need to evacuate in the morning because bacteria has been active and the metabolism has been inactive all night long.

Aim for another 1 – 2 bowel movements throughout the day.


Squat When You Eliminate

Place a footstool, box, two telephone books, or a step under both feet when seated on the toilet. By raising both feet off the ground, you put yourself in a squatting position that is more natural and encourages easy elimination. This is also of benefit to women when voiding urine in order to full empty the bladder. The design of the modern toilet actually contributes to constipation.


Get Regular Exercise

Exercise helps to keep abdominal muscles strong and firm. It also encourages peristalsis, which are the successive waves of involuntary contraction passing along the walls of the colon that force the contents out. However, do not exercise immediately after eating because the digestive process needs a lot of energy.



Diet

Drink plenty of warm water.

Chew your food well and don't drink at meal times.

Eat small amounts and often.

Consume plenty of fruit and vegetables, sprouted grains, nuts and seeds.

Maintain an ideal balance of 80% alkaline and 20% acid foods.

Eat a tablespoon or more of soaked linseed, sunflower, pumpkin and sesame seeds daily.

Include plenty of green juices in your diet, they provide maximum nutrition and minimum digestive effort.


Rest

Listen to your body for rest cycles; it is natural to rest for 30 minutes after each meal.

For optimal cellular cleansing and rebuilding, do not eat or drink anything for 3 hours before you go to sleep at night.

Fast on juices one day per week; drink only freshly squeezed juices, pure water and herbal teas.



A Final Thought

If the average person has only three bowel movements a week and is supposed to have three a day, then by the end of the week they are eighteen bowel movements short. By the end of the month they are seventy-two bowel movements behind. Then by the end of the year they have an eight hundred and sixty-four bowel movement deficit.... This build up of waste matter in the body can lead to many health problems, which may often seem unrelated to bowel toxicity e.g. skin breakouts, lethargy, compromised immunity etc


Wheatgrass Implants

Wheatgrass implants help to nourish the body via absorption through the colon, this also keeps the electrolytes in the body healthy and strong. They also help purge the colon and liver and cleanse the bloodstream.

Many of our clients choose to have wheatgrass implanted following colon hydrotherapy to further cleanse and nourish their bodies. This process lasts approximately 25 - 30 minutes.


Please Note

All wheatgrass used in the clinic is freshly juiced prior to insertion. We do not use powdered versions of this chlorophyll rich superfood.
